Sat positions in astronomical images

Is there any value in positional measurements of satellite trails "accidentally" obtained during astronomical imaging? I measure asteroid light curves, which involves taking 3-minute exposures of the same field all night. My current target happens to be in the geostationary belt, which is what got me thinking about this (100+ distinct satellites through my 1-degree field in 2 hours!), bu

I don't personally have the time to measure hundreds of sat trails and ID them without cutting into other research. Anyone have an interest in these images? Is there a way to automate the ID process so we only measure sats that need measuring?
