Laser light from Calipso was observed by two observers at 2006/10/02 9:13:53 UT under clear dark skies with no perceptible haze.

Observer 1 located about 130 meters east of the predicted sub-satellite ground track saw a brief flash at zenith followed by a quick but perceptible pause before 4 or 5 beams of at least 20 degrees in length flashed by apparently to the east of the observer. The whole apparition lasted less than 1/2 a second.

Observer 2 located 310 meters east of the sub-satellite track saw a flash at zenith followed also by a brief pause and then 3 or 4 separate spots or flashes near zenith less than one degree apart. The second observer felt the spots were slightly to the east.

The track was calculated from Space-Track.org element set 06273.7099.
