Should we agree on one numbering scheme for Starlink launches, or should we not care because nobody is really confused by having two!? This is the 5th Starlink launch and will raise the total number of Starlink satellites to 300. Is it called "STARLINK 4" in Marco's TLE because the first launch carried 60 satellites that were experimental, non-production versions, and so that was "STARLINK 0"? T.S. Kelso just Tweeted, "Pre-launch SupTLEs for the fifth Starlink launch ("STARLINK-5") are now available on CelesTrak at http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/supplemental/starlink-5.txt These are for the next planned launch attempt on Feb 15 at 1546 UTC." After launch, when things settle down, the objects' TLEs get names like "STARLINK-1175" which is, I assume, just an ascending count. SpaceX’s press kits are no help, they just say "fourth launch" etc! Apologies if this has been hashed out already, or if it is a contentious subject .. > On Feb 13, 2020, at 8:45 AM, Marco Langbroek via Seesat-l <seesat-l_at_satobs.org> wrote: > > > SpaceX expects to launch the 4th batch of 60 new Starlink satellites from SLC-40 > in Florida on Feb 15 at 15:46 UT > > Here is an estimated elset for the first few revolutions: > > STARLINK 4 > 1 70000U 20999A 20046.65694445 0.00069181 00000-0 15681-3 0 03 > 2 70000 53.0052 278.7576 0009048 332.8942 43.4811 15.96737629 04 > > Time uncertainties can be up to 2-3 minutes. > > - Marco _______________________________________________ Seesat-l mailing list http://mailman.satobs.org/mailman/listinfo/seesat-lReceived on Thu Feb 13 2020 - 13:33:32 UTC
