    Bruce, the minima of USA 144 have always made it an annoying object for myself, using 7x50
    binocs and I see it ar ranges less than you can( the perigee is "stuck" near southern apex
    because of the inclination). 
    Might I suggest Lacrosse 2,3,4 as lower but brighter and steadier objects. 
    I am sure the analysts on this list would give a beginner such as yourself
    private information on residuals.
