It exploded?  Is this common 4 months after launch?

Maybe it sent 12 film capsules off in 12 different directions?

Could the soviets be experimenting with anti
satellite weapons (considering it happened over
Russia).  Did pieces break off on different passes? (multiple
tests)

I wonder if they are still saying that the satellite is functional.
