I'm not sure how many will be able to get these pages (online archives of the Meteorobs mailing list), but they talk about what apparently was a (submarine?) missile launch off Florida at about 1:15 UTC June 26 (9:15 p.m. June 25 USA Eastern Daylight Time). What was reported by at least one person was a -9 magnitude fireball. Both URLs are for the same message: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/meteorobs/message/19676 http://www.astroarchive.com/t/display.asp?UID=1144399 Several reports from Florida, as well as Georgia and even Pennsylvania (!) appear on the NUFORC site, on June 25 with times give as about 20:00 to 21:00 to even 23:00 EDT: http://www.msatech.com/nuforc/webreports/ndxe200106.html Wish I'd seen it! Last night under the full Moon I was dutifully timing various objects when my second, newer stopwatch lost its mind just like the first one -- and this one's less than a year old. Anyone have a stopwatch with 100 or more memories that has lasted for a long time and want to recommend it?
