: just based on the description "red light, got very bright, fading to green : and silver" sound much like a satellite flare... flare as in seeing the : reflection of the sun off of the satellite's solar panels... i think flare : fits this situation because it was much slower than a flash or glint... Years ago a friend and his wife told me a similar story. At the time they were North-West of the Tonopah Test Range looking West. The lights appeared to rise slowly over a several minute period. The moon was up and near full, the lights were large and extremely bright.
