Observations from September 21/22, 2012. Good conditions throughout
the night. My first foray out of LEO into HEO/GEO to test my equipment
    and software.

    NOTES:
    ------
    1) The 99034 unknown was visible only in the corner of the image. It
is in a 63.4 deg orbit. It may be that this is NOSS 3 (G)
[11745/80019G] late by about 7.5 minutes and a bit off track due to
       its high drag.
    2) The observations of USA 179 [28384/04034A] were made just before
shadow entry at a range of about 13300 km. I used a new reduction
routine in my software to obtain these points. By combining the
timing information from the four frames and the predicted movement
of the object across the sky, I can track the object in
software. This essentially converts a trailed object into a point,
hereby increasing the signal to noise. Since this is the first test
of this software these observations should be treated with care.
    3) The observations of USA 237 [38528/12034A] were obtained using the
similar routine, but instead of tracking on the satellite, the
software tracks the rate of the stars. With the camera staring at a
       fixed azimuth and elevation, this allows me to create two images;
one without tracking, showing the geosynchronous satellite as a
point, and one with tracking on the stars, showing the stars as
points. This second image greatly facilitates the astrometric
calibration because the image has fainter stars, and it works
better on point like objects. This is also the first test of this
approach, so please also treat these observations with care.

    Regards,
      Cees
