Pre-launch predictions of the launch trajectory based on published data (see http://www.satobs.org/seesat/Sep-2010/0281.html ) was right on the money. From the viewing location near the Amtrak SURF Station (coords 34.6826, -120.6041), the vehicle was going straight away from us, making it appear to go straight up, then straight down as it boosted away. Interesting effect, and verified the launch azimuth of 192.5° very precisely. Also, the 1st Stage booster shut down right at the apparent apex of the flight as viewed from our location.
