Dana from the South Pole has sent me an e-mail at the end of August that they have indeed seen the iridium flare marathon but just when it should have been at its best with more than two days of mag -8 flares from one plane and a second plane joining in with mag -6 or so they had poor sky conditions. He still wanted to check whether they got any (probably marginal) video out of it but I didn't get any more news about that.
