Went out to look at IR34 this evening as predicted by H-A. Was expecting a nice -7 flare. As I watched there was a very quick (for an Iridium) bright flare lasting maybe 3 seconds tops from start to finish. As I sat there thinking 'that was an awfully quick flare', another flare appeared very close to the same position. This one occured in the normal fashion. Realizing I just saw two sats flaring I figured one must be an inactive or tumbler. Checking TLE's I found IR98? to be in the vicinity. Now the sad part. I would have had a digital picture of this double flare if I hadn't lost track of time and had the camera set up in time. Let the butt kicking commence!!! :( 118.0W 33.8N Brian -- http://home.earthlink.net/~skywise711/index.html *** Website restructured. Old links are no longer valid *** "Great heavens! That's a laser!"
