NORAD #25000 -- Get Ready

Sometime between March and June of 1997,
we will have an opportunity to publicize satellite spotting.
I suggest that everyone have a press release ready for
their local newspaper. This press release should be prepared
and ready for the month that Space Command catalogues its
25,000th piece of space payloads/debris. Yes, I know that
some numbers have been reassigned over the years, so it's
not EXACTLY 25,000 space objects, but round numbers are
easier to recognize and remember. I am going to drop a
note to the SPACECOM Commander and give them a heads-up,
as well.
So where did I get the "between March and June" ?
Assuming 16 months per thousand objects; 1/3 of that
thousand is already catalogued, leaving another 10 months
to go; 09/96 plus 10 months equals 06/97; add a healthy
fudge figure and there you are. Feel free to check my math,
but it works out to 14-18 months per thousand objects.
The following is the month and year that a launch (as opposed to
older debris) was catalogued.
