This guy's presumed rocket body is one of the brightest satellites at the present time. The program name for the heavy ELINTs? Different spelling for Okean? How can I tell whether this is a heavy ELINT or an Okean or something else? I observed this guy last night and its steady appearance for almost 3 minutes (after it left a cloud at high altitude) was very consistent with Okean 1-7 = 94- 66A = 23317 , C* 2242 = 93- 24A = 22626, C* 2228 = 92- 94A = 22286, which are otherwise the most recent members of the C* 1933 family. Except for the weird behavior of C* 2242 which has to be mentioned and considered separately, all of these, including the one launched on the 31st, have an appearance consistent with the theory I have earlier advanced about the life cycle of the members of the C* 1933 family (some of this is available from my messages in the archive and some of it is supposed to appear in a forthcoming Flash; let's all hope Bart is hale and hearty very soon). I.e., now, it looks like an operating satellite and is not exhibiting any of the symptoms of distress. Speaking of C* 2242, has anyone noted any radio signals from it (or an absence of a signal expected from a heavy ELINT, such as a CW beacon at 153.4n)? Am I overlooking an on-line resource where any of these questions might be answered? Thanks. Cheers.
