If the San Francisco Bay area has such a decay window, please let me know
    when and where to look!

I am about to go mobile to Manteca for a graze that occurs at 5:45 AM, so
haven't and will not have a chance to see if such a chance exists..

    Subject: ROSAT attempted observation.

We had a ROSAT pass only about 10-15 minutes after sunset here in southern
Arizona tonight. I tried to observe it from Kitt Peak where it should have
passed at close to 60 degrees above the horizon. The sky was very bright
with twilight, but I was hoping it might flare or maybe even be a contrail
with a ground track less than maybe 100km away. I watched from more than 5
minutes before the predicted pass until more than 5 minutes after but did
    not
see anything. I'm guessing the sky was too bright, though we were within
    the
decay window given the latest predictions.... I watched from UT 00:50-01:08

and the middle of the pass should have been 00:59 or so.

    Jim.
