In my search for astronomical photos of Sputnik 1's rocket body, I came across an excerpt of Spaceflight, Vol. 1, No. 6 (Jan 1958), the cover of which appears to bear a photo taken from the Mount Stromlo Observatory: http://epizodsspace.no-ip.org/bibl/inostr-yazyki/spaceflight/1958/1/sputnik-1-no6-1958.pdf Based upon other sources, I believe the photo may have been taken by a member of the observatory's staff, Mr. Kurt Gottlieb, on 1957 Oct 08 UTC; however, I am seeking any additional information that may have appeared in the issue of Spaceflight in question, specifically on pg. 194, under the heading "Our Cover". That page is not included in the above excerpt. If any has access to that issue, I would appreciate learning the text of description. As a separate exercise, I am attempting to identify the star background in the photo via astrometry.net, so far to no avail, but it's early in the process.
