After showing my astroclub's LX200, Albireo and M31 to a group of visitors, I used the scope to find USA 186. I pointed to a predicted position of 12:10 +48:32 (2000.0) without regard to any reference stars. (Actually I saw none, using a 50x eyepiece) A bright sat hurried through the field, apparantly right through the center, and I timed it when leaving the field. Pointing ObsReduce like the LX200, I got this position: Obs - Pred: 0.459 deg X-track; 2.552 s early, relative 25.96 day old elset: The crosstrack error could partly be due to inaccurate alignment of the scope. 28888 05 042A 9987 G 20071010194319300 37 25 1209772+481025 29 S (as always, IOD format: http://www.satobs.org/position/IODformat.html) 9987 is used here for the club observatory : "STAR Magnethuset", +59 20' 30.66", +18 3' 16.09" -- Björn Gimle -- -- COSPAR 5918 WGS84, +18.10127 (E), +59.29813 (N), 44 m -- -- COSPAR 5919, MALMA, +18.6206 (E), +59.2615 (N), 33 m -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
