    There are in fact three lasers - the first of which has failed, so
    presumably current observations are of Laser 2.
    
    The problem is a design flaw whereby gold and iridium react during operation
    of the laser, so all three of them are likely to fail prematurely:

    I am grateful for Gregg's email as I had not attempted observation on some
    good passes owing to cloud- apparently exactly the wrong decision to make!
    However there are more to come so now I will be watching.
