thomsona: I prefer Starry night pro 3.x over Cartes du Ciel, yes it costs $$$ but darn well worth it. Note The Backyard and Beginner versions don't have the satellite support functions. There is now version 4 that will soon come out, 10/28/02, that combines the features of 3. with its sister program Deep space explorer. but I encourage you to download and try both. There is a trial version of starry night backyard available from their web site http://www.starrynight.com/en/trial_download.html Unfortunately you don't get to try the satellite functions. If you can't afford it then, try http://www.heavens-above.com/ for "FREE" star charts with satellite track info. --Ben thomsona wrote: > I've been contemplating buying a copy of Starry Night and, researching it, > came across several recommendations for "Cartes du Ciel," which is a freeware > sky chart program.
