A rare crystal clear evening - just by chance I observed Molniya 3-27 #16393 at >30000 km range, flashing to +4.5 for 10 minutes, with 20.795 s period, and fainter flashes at half-period, 2001-10-14 17:10-17:20 UTC from RA 02:41 +26 and up left. Returning to the site I found no more flashes in 7*50 17:45-18:00. 85-117 A BG 2001-10-14 17:19:53 LB 681.86 33 0.3 20.795 Mm +4.5-inv Also by chance NOSS 2-3 at 24 deg altitude. Trying to find flaring geosats, also by chance I found Intelsat 5-1 rk #12497 at 9500 km range, flashing to +6 with 12.52 s period.
