On October 14 I searched for the evening flashes of DSP 16 with
my 10 cm RFT from 17:24 to 18:15 UTC but found none. From 22:25
to 22:30 I searched for the brighter midnight flashes with 20 x 80
binoculars but found none again. I had last seen them on October 9
22:27 to 22:28 with 10 x 50 binoculars.
So they were much fainter than expected, or the flashing had stopped
or DSP 16 had moved from its expected position.
On October 16 I searched for the evening flashes again with my 10 cm RFT
at the expected position and with 20 x 80 binoculars to the west and east.
After all I found them between 18:05 and 18:06 nearly 6 degrees west of
the expected position.
Observations on October 17 and 18 confirmed that DSP 16 is moving to the
west with about 1 deg/day and that it had left its station at +8.5 deg east
on October 11.
