Tonight, on 31 October 1999 at 17:35 UT, I witnessed a pair of
Iridium flares as I have never seen before. Irdium 51? was predicted
to flare at 17:34:59 at magnitude -5 and Iridium 6 at 17:35:03
at magnitude -3. Both at virtually the same location azimuth 177 deg
elevation 43 deg.

I was expecting two consecutive flares 4 seconds apart, but in
reality both flares occurred simultaneously. Ir 51? was significantly
brighter, in agreement with Iridflar. I was able to videotape the
pair of flares. A very spectacular view! Has anybody else seen such
simultaneous flares?
