On the Yahoo Comet Chasing group a group of amateur
comet observers from Bhuj, Kutch, Gujarat, India
(Lat. 23:18 N, Lon: 069:42 E) reported a second
magnitude object that on 15 November moved from
Puppis to Corvus from 4:00 to 6:10 AM IST (which I
believe works out to 22:30 Nov 14 to 0:40 Nov 15
UTC, as Heavens-Above.com says their time zone is
GMT +5:30). I thought of the Ariane launch, but
the far southern location of Puppis, around
declination -40, seems puzzling. I suppose that
it could have been seen during the ascent to
geostationary height. They said that its tail
spread out "like waves". They saw it with and
without binoculars as well as with a telescope.
