XSS-11 (05011A / 28636) rendezvoused with DMSP B5D2-6 (91082A / 21798) several months ago, and was tracked for a time by hobbyists. These are the latest elements from that effort: XSS-11 1.0 0.6 0.0 7.5 v 1.20 1 28636U 05011A 06264.71093735 .00000020 00000-0 10212-4 0 00 2 28636 98.6413 271.9456 0012000 346.9744 13.0255 14.15656644 00 XSS-11 subsequently manoeuvred away; however, I suspected that it would eventually re-rendezvous with 91082A, and Brad Young's observations of 2006 Nov 21 appear to confirm this: http://satobs.org/seesat/Nov-2006/0204.html Brad observed it trailing 91082A by about 15 s. I suspect that XSS-11 may still be in the vicinity of 91082A, perhaps leading or trailing by up to 2 minutes (time). Paul Gabriel reported obs of XSS-11 on 2006 Nov 24 and 25, but I find that he mistook 91082A for XSS-11 - a common problem, given the often close proximity of the objects. I used Paul's observations to update the orbit of 91082A: DMSP B5D2-6 6.4 1.7 0.0 6.6 v 5.43 1 21798U 91082A 06329.02803094 .00000047 00000-0 24121-4 0 01 2 21798 98.6360 334.2635 0013252 155.8616 204.3182 14.15665844 06 Arc 2006 Oct 31.72 - Nov 25.03, WRMS residuals = 0.017 deg I looked for XSS-11 last night, but saw only 91082A, and obtained one observation of too low accuracy to contribute to improving or maintaining the orbital elements: 21798 91 082A 2701 G 20061124231019930 17 25 1959180+194780 98 IOD format: http://www.satobs.org/position/IODformat.html Site 2701: 43.68764 N, 79.39243 W, 230 m Ted Molczan ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Frequently Asked Questions, SeeSat-L archive: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
