    Hello:

Although last Saturday's Delta IV/DMSP F-17 launch happened during dawn and
the sky was relatively bright, the event was seen over a surprisingly wide
area. I have organized and posted several launch observations on my web
site. To read these reports, go to:

    	http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbobs.htm

The existence of the DMSP satellite program was declassified in 1973. The
specific reasons for program's creation were officially revealed to the
public within the past few years
    (http://www.aero.org/publications/crosslink/winter2005/02.html).

An audio report on the DMSP F-17 launch, DMSP program history, and how DMSP
data is used was recently broadcast. It is available at:

    Regards,
