Hi all , A clear spell last night gave me chance to do some more tests on the 40mm/modified webcam combination. With a field of view of 4.5 degs I was able to identify the Astra and Hotbird clusters , plus three other nearby birds. The advantage of the wide FOV is that it provides ample coverage of the arc to give two three degree spaced slots in one image. http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/satcom_transits/10to19.jpg ....shows the arc from 10 degs east to 19 east. Estimated magnitude of the dimmer birds approx plus12-14. Exposures of between 25 and 60 secs were used.
