I think that what Steve saw was a water dump done by Endeavor. I did not hear mission control too well as I had the volume turned down on my computer with NASA TV playing, but I was pretty sure I heard that they mentioned doing a water dump just before I went out to watch its pass over eastern North America this evening. By the way, I managed to set up my computer so that it splits the screen in a horizontal pan so that by connecting an S-Video cable to the second monitor output, I can watch NASA TV on my big screen and still do all my work on the computer monitor. If anyone else wants to try it, I can give some pointers. Observed this naked eye and with 10 x 50 binocs. The nebulous light faded out prior to the station entering shadow. I have not seen this before. The sky conditions were clear, no moon, temp 38 F, windy 25 mph gusts, snow cover on ground. There were no observeable clouds. What was this? No good timings but observed and followed breifly at approx 23.38.30 UTC 1/4d under beta cygnus with 8" and 17mm eyepiece for a 70x seeing some shape.
