Iridium 20 Flashes
Sat, 28 Nov 1998 19:02:30 -0700 (MST)

As i stepped outside to look for NOSS 2-3 r my hopes were dashed by clouds
along it's projected path. However i noticed a series of quick flashes in a
clear area of sky. Most were very bright, into the negative magnitudes and
very rapid, less than a second between flashes. So fast that i thought it
may have been the anti-collision lights of an aircraft at first. Then
followed about 10-15 seconds of nothing then a series of less brighter
flashes, about magnitude 3 to 3.5. Since it followed a North to South path i
figured it must have been an Iridium and sure enough Iridium 20 was passing
overhead at that time and along that track. The time was 00:58:30 +/- 20
seconds UT 29 Nov.

I also observed a -3 flare by Iridium 73 even though it was close to the
glow of the moon.
