shuttle re-entry times

Actually, if the shuttle is still moving at anywhere near orbital
velocity, it must pass across North America on its re-entry in just the few
minutes before landing in Florida. I guess it passes Tulsa maybe 3-6 minutes
or so before touchdown? Is that correct, or is the shuttle significantly
slowed from orbital velocities already at that point, so it is longer before?
