The lens I'm using is a 50mm F/1.8 which I already happened to have.
It gives me a 7.2x5.3 deg field of view with a pixel scale of about 35
arcseconds per pixel. Still frames are captured directly onto a
computer using an EasyCap USB adapter and the frames are timestamped
off the computer clock in the grabbing software. I have written some
custom software to 'compress' 250 consecutive frames into a
'four-frame' FITS file (see section 2.2 in
http://cams.seti.org/CAMSoverviewpaper.pdf). Running at 25 frames per
second each 'four-frame' comprises of 10s of data.

Since my horizon is very limited and I am still testing the setup, the
camera just points at a fixed az/el for each observing session. This
has the added benefit that once I calibrate the astrometry of one FITS
file I can automatically transfer the astrometry to all other FITS
files in the sequence using another piece of code that I wrote. Yet
another program then overlays predictions from the space-track and
classified catalogs and I use ObsReduce to measure positions for
anything that is classified or unidentified.

    Regards,
        Cees
