    Observations 10 MAY 2012

    Cosatrak 1 (Computerised satellite Tracking System).
    
    FLI ML8300M CCD camera with mechanical shutter + Trimble GPS
    
    Used with NIKON ED AF NIKKOR 80-200mm f/2.8 telephoto lens
    set at ~150mm focal length. Field of view 6.9 x 5.3 degrees,
    Time is accurate to within 50 milliseconds.
    
    Site 0433 : Longitude 18.51294 deg East, Latitude -33.94058 deg,

    NOTES:
    ----------
    (1) Observation of OTV 2-1 treat with care. It was predicted to barely
        clear local buildings so I automatically tracked on the
        predictions.
        However only seen on one image and about 0.8 deg or so lower in
        elevation which meant I had even less clearance over local
        buildings.
        It appears stellar like-as it should since I was tracking on it,
        but since I only got it on one image a cosmic ray strike etc cant
        be ruled out.
    
    (2) Unknown seen - no obvious match - looks like it might be one of the
        missing NOSS satellites?
    
    
    (3) Still have geostationary satellites to report-with a 6.9 x 5.3deg
        field of view there are plenty in one image - one region had 16
        satellites in the field of view. I am now using a new technique
        which means enormous files -16 Mbytes per image and I can now do
        exposures up to about 2 minutes duration. The Nikon telephoto
        lens set-up now outperforms what the 102mm f/5 SKYWATCHER did
        but I strongly suspect that when I use the new method on the
        SKYWATCHER it will outperform the Nikon lens and give me
        hopefully at least a further magnitude on the best I could
        previously get which was about magnitude +16.
