    Regarding my aforementioned timing problem, I installed a fresh battery into my
    stopwatch, but the problem still appeared to be present in last night's
    observations. 
    
    I have dropped my stopwatch a time or two, so perhaps it was damaged in some way
    that increases latency, though I doubt it. The next logical step would seem to
    be to try using a different stopwatch; if the problem persists, then the
    operator becomes prime suspect.
