Resurrecting a thread from February about the upcoming launch of the Planetary Society's solar sail "Cosmos 1" (which did not happen on March 1): http://satobs.org/seesat/Feb-2005/0053.html FWIW, tonight I found a site saying that the launch is now scheduled for May 31: http://www.saturntoday.com/calendar/calendar.html?pid=3485 However, the Planetary Society's own site says, "The actual launch date will be announced during the week of May 16." http://www.planetary.org/solarsail/index.html Whenever it launches, it may be pretty interesting to observe as it's 30 meters in diameter (but not until sails deployed some days or more after launch), rotating 22 rpm; inclination 78 degrees, height 825 km. In the thread above Ted estimated more details for when it was scheduled to launch on March 1.
