Another small piece of observational data:

I saw a pass by accident last Saturday evening (while out watching Lacrosse
4) and indeed the sparkle was brilliant after culmination while to the
south.  In fact the sparkle continued as USA 32 passed into shadow (but
still at fairly small phase angle).
