Mike & all, Once I saw NOAA 11 flare Oct. 4, 1997. At the time, my belief was that it was an Iridium flare caught by sheer coincidence. Later checking determined that it must have been NOAA 11. As it turned out, apparently Ed Cannon had seen the same thing a day earlier. If you want to read about it go to the Oct. 1997 SeeSat archives: http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Oct-1997/index.html and read the "NOAA 11 double flare, and other obs." thread: http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Oct-1997/0030.html and: http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Oct-1997/0071.html and the "NOAA 11 flare" post: http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Oct-1997/0075.html I don't know about NOAA 9, but if NOAA 11 and 12 (Ian Porter report) have been known to flare, and if they're all the same type of satellite, maybe all of them would flare??? -- Jake Rees Burbank, California _____________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe from SeeSat-L by sending a message with 'unsubscribe' in the SUBJECT to SeeSat-L-request@lists.satellite.eu.org http://www2.satellite.eu.org/seesat/seesatindex.html
