Thanks to Bob Christy who sent me scans of my note on a naked-eye geosat
(Space, 1983, No 42). Details were:

1983 Oct 11 02:25UT mag +3 object noticed with the naked-eye from
Herstmonceux, S. England.
Four fixes in 20x120 binocs allowed Gordon Taylor to ID it as 80-098A,
NORAD 12089, Intelsat 5 F-2.

Earlier that night I had suspected a mag +4 object, but put it down to a
star when checking a chart later. Gordon suspected that suspect may have
been 81-119A, NORAD 12994, Intelsat 5 F-3

Cheers, Rob
