Yesterday, while I was watching visually  the brightness variations of ALOS,  a brighter (mag 0) and much quicker UNID satellite suddenly appeared and passed  at only 2° from ALOS - after culmination - at 19h18m46s UT.
This was about 19-20 minutes late according to the Calsky prediction for USA 186.

25-30 seconds later on, ALOS was experiencing an exceptional double flare (mag -3 then -5). This double flare was simultaneously recorded by the Pic du Midi Observatory all sky camera.

I am grateful to my friend in Meudon who pointed out that the UNID staellite was probably the lost USA 186; and to Alain Grycan who sent me the Pic du Midi info.
