The phone jack should be output from an internal modem,
ie modulated 56 kbs tones, AFAIK.
LX200 uses RS-232 standards, ie voltages.

My laptop has the same "deficiency", but there are cheap
USB-RS232C converters available in electronics/hobbyists stores (~$30 in
    Sweden).

These are usually on short cables.
I haven't seen one for the PC card slot, and those are
being phased out for a new (similar, improved) standard.

There is one more project: finding the correct cable!

I did not get one from a shop, and anyway Meade info
hints that you also need a null modem in the connection!
So I compared available cable specs on the web, and
chose the one which most clearly described it, and
contained no evidence that also null modem was required.
    I found http://obs.nineplanets.org/meade/cable.html

I used an ordinary modem cable to fit the converter, and
a long telephone cable (RJ-11?) with four (coloured) wires.
I cut them near one end, and connected the wires,
carefully checking with an ohmmeter that I picked the
    right ones.

    That worked perfectly.. Thanks..

It has just dawned on me that I have never used this laptop to control my
LX200 and that it does not have a serial port..

Maybe the empty Network "phone jack" will work directly with the RS-232
    port???

Or something that slides into the laptop card slot??

Seems I have just found my next project.. Like I did not have enough of
    those!

You don't even have to copy the elset files, just
"Open File" from the bottom row, middle!
SatTrack will remember the directory AND the file name
    to next run.

I had a similar problem, but didn't investigate it, since I find manual
    download from SpaceTrack easy enough.

Hmmmm.. I cannot get Satellite tracker to download the TLE's..

Can I copy the elements from the Heavensat directory, which downloads them
    fine???
