    Hi Derek, 
    
    I use a PC tablet (no serial ports...) with a Meade ETX70 and have a Keyspan
    USB to RS-232 (Model USA-19HS) converter that works like a charm. The
    'network' plug on the telescope as I recall is TTL level not standard
    RS-232. The Meade supplied cable I have is not a straight thru, it has
    circuit box between the phone jack and the DB-9 serial port connector.
