Another slow flashing geo sat. On the evening of Feb 27, I setup my gear, to look for more flashing from NSS K ( 21898 ). I was using my wide feild lens, as I usually do when I am working on a clear night. After I got home, I played back the video. At 5:43:37 UTC ( Feb 28 ) I observed a flash, coming from a different object. It was THAICOM 3 ( 24768 ). The flash was in the Mag 6 range. So the sat was around 12 h 44 m R.A -6 deg 00 min Dec I then later, observed another flash from it, not sure when as I didn't keep the video. Then last night, I used the 4 ince refractor, to look at it. This allows me to see fainter. I observed a few flashes, such as one at 3:18:25 UTC ( Mar 1 ). It was brighter then mag 8. So sat around 10 h 03 m R.A -6 deg 04 min Dec The flash last at least 2 seconds, so the sat is slowly rotating. Hard to tell what the flash period is, it's between 8 to 9 minutes, so long. So not as interesting to observe, compared to other geo sat's, with shorter flash periods. Kevin 44.6062 N 75.6910 W __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
