About 20 AVIs to go through today from last nights observing ( 19east to 24.5 west) , which yielded over two dozen geosats , including the Astra's , Hotbirds and Amos duo ( 4 west)....many of which were imaged going into shadow.I also caught sight of a spin stabilised Meteosat bird at zero degrees.....which was much dimmer than the conventional "winged" sats Priority however is given to the mover at 8 west. The animation can be found here.............. http://mysite.freeserve.com/satcom_transits/8wmoverbw.gif I have left it at 4.5 mb in order to give as much detail as possible. It is made up of a selection of 10 second frames.FOV 30 arc minutes. On the right is 24209 1996-044B Telecom 2D , on the left (east) is 26927 01042A Atlantic Bird 2 . Above is the mover. (North is up ) Notice how the mover , although in the same apparent position as Telecom 2D , goes into shadow some time before it....followed by AB2 then T2D Here's the camera log for the period covered , give or take a few seconds.... A quick search through Ted's Geolong programme provides no clues as to which bird this is , despite the accuracy of the images.I have not as yet looked at recent launches. Could this be the same object as observed on Feb 21st 2004 I wonder?
