Crisp, clear skies; unobstructed horizons; and temperatures just on the cool side of mild all added up to perfect viewing conditions earlier this morning for the reentry. Columbia appeared low in my west at 09:14:19 UTC. I could last detect motion of Columbia low in my east at 09:17:32 UTC. The plasma trail stretched from horizon to horizon, but it dissipated rapidly (within three minutes). Industrial and highway noise being carried on the wind prevented me from hearing a sonic boom.
