    Hello all,

I'm normally just a lurker so this is one of my few posts
    to this list.

Back on January 23rd, 2001, I and several others at my work
in Cerritos California heard several loud bangs at 4:30 pm
local that really shook things up. I have heard the Shuttles
double sonic booms several times, including the recent landing
at Edwards. These mystery booms were very much on par with
the Shuttles sonic booms except that instead of the two
distinct concussions the Shuttle has, I heard several booms
over a 5 to 10 second period of varying amplitudes.

I do know that many people in the LA area must have heard
them as they all went running to an earthquake website to
see if that's what it was (myself included). The website is

    http://www.scecdc.scec.org/

Today I was reading some information by the web administrator
which showed server activity related to earthquake events. On
    http://bort.gps.caltech.edu/spikes/gallery/ there is an
unknown event on Jan 23 at about 4:30 pm local but there was
    no earthquake at that time.

This message is to investigate the possibility that it may
have been man made space debris re-entering near the LA
area at that date and time.

It may have also been a bolide exploding.

If anyone can help find out if it could have or could not
have been man made space debris I'd appreciate it.

    Thanx in advance.

    Cheers,
    Brian
