Hello, Since ID'ing Dave LeBlanc's February 18 "Mir and Flares" observation of DMSP B5D1-3 (http://www.satellite.eu.org/seesat/Feb-2000/0376.html), I've had this one on my list of objects to watch for. Tonight, I observed it flaring sharply for about 1 second, to nearly Mag zero as it passed near Algol (Beta Perseus). It was invisible for about 60 seconds, before flaring again to about +1 and I was unable to see any subsequent flashes. Unfortunately, I didn't have my short-wave on hand, for better accuracy, but I would place the two flashes at approximately 00:44:10 and 00:44:15 UTC (based on a quick glance at my watch after each flash).
