The launch date for the HST servicing mission has been set to 10 September 2008. Not that it amounts to much at this moment given NASA's track record of launching shuttles according to plan. But if it actually happens on this date it would mean some evening visibility on the first few days for observers sufficiently south. The landing would take place 11 days later around mid-day and thus no chance to see the ion tail over the US at night.
