Tried out my new camera tonight. Now using a Mintron (called a Matrix at
Polarisusa) which has onboard integration of the frames. Can now
comfortably get down to 10 mag with a 5 degree fov and integrating 12
frames. Have to get used to seeing the satellite as a short trail 1/5 of a
second long. The satellite moves across the screen in little 1/5 of a
second hops. Must measure from the front of the trail right after it makes
its "hop". This is fairly easy as I use a DVD recorder to play back the
passes and it has a single step mode. As the satellite approaches an
appulse I stop the play and step forward until the appulse. Read the time
right off the screen and enter the data into ObsReduce. The larger fov
makes it harder for me to miss a satellite that is slightly off track, but
the accuracy may suffer due to less zoom. A plus is that with so many guide
stars visible I can usually wait for an appulse (a quick reduction with
ObsReduce). A minus is that with so many guide stars visible I get lost in
the stars! Will continue to experiment with different levels of zoom and
integration but this camera is not too expensive and instantly gave me two
magnitudes. I can get another magnitude by zooming in to a 2.5 degree fov
(max zoom for my 62mm lens).

Kevin, you NEED to get one of these cameras. I have been waiting for the
company to get them in stock for 6 months. They are in now in stock. Just
unscrew your PC164 and replace it with the Matrix....and you are in business
    with stars and satellites galore.
