    It also depends on where the satellite is.  When geosynchs
    are low in the east or west, they're farther away from the 
    observer than when they're near the meridian.  But I 
    believe that ETS 6 likely holds the naked-eye distance 
    record -- unless one of the big, very highly eccentric 
    astronomy payloads has been seen flaring from farther away.
