I was out doing some casual astronomy, when a satellite caught my eye:
First appearing (when I noticed it) as a mag 1, west 250^ azimuth, moving
rapidly from south to north. At about 260^ west, it flared to a good -8 mag,
and as quickly as it came, returned to mag 1. Following it until it
    disappeared about 285^ west.
I emphasize the SPEED at which it was going.
         Time was exactly 10:30pm EDT.
An Iridium in a much closer orbit [now] ? (Heading toward death later
    this year?)
-Ben 40.5770N, 73.9480W (New York City).
