    Nope.  Even if a supernova were to go off, startle the
    bejeezers out of me, and cause me to release my grip
    (on both my binoculars and the stopwatch!) -- no harm
    would come to either (which is probably more than could
    be said for my eyes).  The stopwatch has a cord which
    goes around my neck, as do the binocs.  --Rob
