The object with the shuttle was the external tank.

Just read that some of my European friends didn't get to see STS91 last =
night.

This was 3 mins earlier than expected but I just noticed that liftoff was
2206 and not 
2210 that was presumably assumed for that tle. Mag at best was -1.0 but
what was
apparent was something trailing it and at the same speed, probably mag =
0.0.
What
was this? Obviously the SRB's had long since disappeared. What ever this
was went
into earth shadow (I assume) about 10 secs before STS (lower orbit?) Any
thoughts?
