But is all this going to be included in the protocols for Starlink brightness estimates? With another launch this week, we need rules, and a charter, and some assurance the data will be used. It’s a task to report mags to +/- 0.5 for 20-30 Starlinks in a train or over a few hours. It is a very difficult task to report 10  to +/- 0.1 Can any of the Satcon WG participants speak to these issues?

You make a very good point about using V-band magnitudes for the reference
stars. The AAVSO magnitudes are V unless otherwise noted. The magnitudes in
Stellarium are probably also V but I could not verify that.

Additionally, the brightness of comparison stars should be displayed to a
tenth (0.1) of a magnitude. The estimated satellite magnitude should also
be recorded to a tenth.
